Remove dust from the construction site

Before starting, the first thing we must do is try to make the dust that has accumulated during the work disappear . Your first impulse will be to take a broom and start sweeping everything, but with this you will only be able to move the particles from place.

Open the window of the compartment where you are going to start cleaning and with the door closed, place a fan pointing outwards.

For the first cleaning itself, it is advisable to use a vacuum cleaner , but you can do it using the traditional brush method, although it will take longer and the effectiveness will be lower. Once you have finished, leave the fan on for at least an hour and the window open, with this you will get the particles that float in the air out into the street .

Repeat this process in each of the rooms in the house. It is recommended that you start with the innermost cabin and work your way towards the exterior rooms from the inside out. In this way you will avoid accumulated dust.

Ceilings and walls

Once we have the house clean of dust and particles, the next step is to remove the dirt that has accumulated on ceilings and walls . In order to do so, I recommend that you follow these steps:

Fill a bucket with water and dip a mop in it until it is completely wet. Before starting, check that it is in a good hurry and does not leak. It is very important, therefore, squeeze it until you appreciate that it is completely drained.

When you have the mop ready and with the right humidity, place it in the upper corner of each wall and proceed to scrub it from corner to corner in the case of ceilings and from corner to corner and from top to bottom when we clean the walls . When you finish each area, you will have to rinse the mop and re-wet it to continue cleaning other areas until both the ceilings and the walls are clean.

The floors after the construction

It is very likely that on the floor of the house you can find traces of mud, cement, plaster . In order to remove those stains that may be resistant to conventional detergents, there are some more specific chemical products on the market for this type of more complex dirt. Antiscale , cement removers , or descalers are usually ideal products for this job.

Before starting, the first thing we must do is try to make the dust that has accumulated during the work disappear. Your first impulse will be to take a broom and start sweeping everything, but with this you will only be able to move the particles around.

If the case that "complicates your life" is how to clean stoneware or porcelain floor after the work, there may be other doubts that usually arise. First you must identify the type of floor and then apply the specific cleaner for stains.

In any case, the ideal solution is the classic vacuum cleaner in the case of smooth floors and the sweeping machine if the surface is rough. The latter is much more efficient and also more expensive.

Cleaning the rest of your home

Once you have managed to remove the dirt from the walls and the floor, the next objective is to clean the rest of the components of your home . Although they should have been covered and insulated during the job, it is very likely that they have traces of dust and plaster from some spatter. The ideal way to remove this dirt is to fill a bucket with water and detergent and use a very damp cloth to remove the remains of dust and dirt. It is important that you use a  degreasing detergent that will guarantee proper cleaning.

When you have the cloth with water and detergent, remove the excess water, but leave it very wet so that it is less aggressive and does not cause scratches and scratches. When you see dirt on the cloth, put it back into the bucket and start over.

In the case of stainless steel windows, use specific products for this, such as specific spray cleaners or a stripper stainless steel cleaner , in case there is any residual welding.

Once you have managed to remove the dirt from the walls and the floor, the next objective is to clean the rest of the components of your home. Although they should have been covered and insulated during the job, it is very likely that they have traces of dust and plaster from a splash.

Another of the enemies that you can find in cleaning your home are paint or varnish stains , I recommend patience and the use of a good universal stripper that will facilitate the removal of those uncomfortable stains.

Popular and inexpensive remedies to clean the remains of work.

There are some homemade solutions that can be efficient and simple in some cases. They do not reach the level of effectiveness of professional products, but they can be a cheaper option. Let's see the most used.

For lime or plaster stains on the windows you can use acid or cement remover. In the case of aluminum window frames or kitchens, I recommend a mixture of water, soap and ammonia. If it is one of those stubborn stains on floors and walls, carbonated drinks or even hydrogen peroxide have a very efficient effect.

For embedded stains, the classic "vaporetta" from your ironing center is usually very effective in cleaning them, the water vapor penetrates and in many cases it is the ideal solution for those stubborn stains.

In the event that it is paint or varnish, there is a very effective solution: nail polishes that contain acetone. To do this, spread this product on the stain and very carefully and scrape it with a spatula until it disappears.

You have almost finished the end of work cleaning.

Once you have finished with dust, ceilings, floors, walls, windows and doors and have your house “apparently” clean, I recommend that you go back to vacuuming as a review of the previous work . Once this process is finished, you will have your home in perfect condition to start the move and thus enjoy a new place to live.
