Before starting to do the glass nail art, for the final result to be spectacular, it is important that you prepare your nails. You should clean them with a nail polish remover (preferably without acetone) to remove the remains of the previous nail polish, file them with the desired shape and remove the cuticles. When treating cuticles, you must be very careful, as these are essential for the health of the nails, since they protect them from possible infections. First, moisturize the cuticles with a specific oil for them and, later, with an orange stick, remove the cuticles by pushing them back. Avoid cutting them and remove the excess skins with a cuticle remover, an instrument specially designed for this task.

Nails with a broken glass effect can be obtained in two different ways, one of them is by directly purchasing a jar of small crystals for nails in specialized stores, and the other is to make this new manicure yourself at home. We are going to focus on the latter and show you all the steps you must follow. The first thing is to gather the necessary materials, and these are the following:
- Base nail polish: you can choose the color you want, but for the effect to be more striking, dark tones such as black, gray, navy blue, brown, purple, etc. are recommended.
- Top coat enamel: this type of enamel will serve to extend the duration of the design of your glass nails.
- Litmus cellophane paper: this type of paper is ideal for creating a diamond effect on the nails, and depending on how the light hits them, different colors will be reflected. In addition to this, you can also choose other colors of cellophane, depending on the tones you want to wear in your manicure. Everything is a matter of testing!

When you have the necessary materials, you can start making this magnificent nail design based on small crystals. The first step will be precisely to create those crystals and for this, you will have to cut a piece of litmus cellophane paper and, then, cut out small triangles that will be the ones that we will adhere to the nails to achieve the effect we are looking for. Once you have enough, leave them stacked in a corner of the table so they do not get lost, as we will use them later.

The next step is to apply a first coat of clear top coat polish and then a coat of the colored nail polish you have chosen. As we have commented, for the design to be more striking and the crystals to shine a lot, dark colors are preferable. Wait for the nails to dry well and apply a second coat of the colored polish on the nails.

With your nails perfectly painted, it is the turn to start gluing the crystals on each of them. This should be done nail by nail in the following way: first, apply a transparent top coat base layer and without letting it dry, take the small triangles of cellophane with the eyebrow tweezers and place them one by one on the nails unevenly and unstructured. Press the crystals with a cotton swab so that they fix well on the nails.

When you have finished doing this procedure on all your nails, you only have to apply a final coat of clear top coat to seal the design and keep it intact for longer.
