Effect of steam on mites, fleas and other insects

Steamers do not use chemicals so they are perfect for cleaning all surfaces, both indoors and outdoors.

These steam cleaners only use water and high temperature to create a very powerful natural steam in disinfection capacity, being able to exterminate bacteria and germs, kill fleas and mites that may form in the bed. They are also effective at removing dust and pulling dirt from heat sensitive surfaces.

The steam is chemical-free and allows you to clean the home in a natural and ecological way without compromising a deep cleaning.

How does steam kill?

There is no other more efficient method of killing mites, viruses and bacteria than steam cleaning. The high temperatures of the steam make it an antibacterial agent. This method has shown that bacteria begin to die when exposed to temperatures of 120 ° C. Steam cleaning allows it to penetrate the pores of fabrics and other hard surfaces, removing contaminants and chemical residues from those surfaces.

Mites

Some little tips if you want to disinfect the home is to start at the top and work towards the back of the room. Take your time using the steam, use the steam cleaner no more than 5 centimeters away from the surface to be cleaned, and try to move it slowly, at about two centimeters per second. This method allows you to take full advantage of the steamer's ability to kill any harmful items that come your way.

In places where you've used chemicals previously, steam can “break down” these chemicals, so be aware that this could affect the air quality in your home. If you need chemical cleaners to supplement steam then make sure to apply them after using the steamer. Vacuuming before using the steam cleaner increases the effectiveness of the steam cleaner.

Using a Steam Cleaner to Kill Germs, Bacteria and Viruses
The high temperatures of the steam kill bacteria, viruses and germs virtually on contact. The air is free of harmful toxins, leaving the home hygienically clean and safe for the family. Germs and bacteria can be found anywhere in the home and can spread between people, on surfaces, and come back again. These polluting surfaces, especially floors, can be home to any number of strains; including Salmonella, Listeria, MRSA, and E. Coli. Cleaning surfaces with chemicals can work well in killing germs and bacteria but can leave behind harmful residue.

Removing mold with steam

Mold is a problem in most homes and is especially a common phenomenon in the bathroom. Hot water from the shower or tub causes vaporization. This, combined with the increase in temperature in the room, generates high levels of humidity.Remove-mold-with-steam

Mold is not only unpleasant to look at but can also have negative health effects in the medium and long term. One of the most efficient and healthy methods to remove it is to use steam pressure on the surfaces. In the most affected areas, chemicals may need to be used for a few minutes to aid removal, then supplemented with steam and if mold scrapes away. There we can clean the waste with a dry cloth or cloth.

Killing Fleas with Steam

To avoid fleas in your home, you must make sure that your pet receives regular flea treatment. Unfortunately, there is always the possibility that they will be picked up from other animals, especially during the warmer months, bringing fleas home. Therefore, cleaning on a regular basis will eliminate this problem.dog-with-fleas

Most of the flea life cycle happens in your pet's space, so treating your home as well as treating your pet is vital. The high temperatures of the steam cleaners will kill the fleas, their eggs and their larvae, leaving your home clean without using harsh chemicals, and will help eliminate the odors of our animals (the odors are caused by bacteria and microorganisms).

Before applying the steam it is advisable to vacuum the carpets. The vibration encourages the adult fleas to emerge and the suction will remove the eggs, larvae, and some of the dust. Afterwards, the steam will take effect. The heat and moisture from the steam could stimulate any remaining eggs that could survive to hatch a day or two after cleaning, so some fleas could reappear. It is therefore interesting to spray with a flea preparation after cleaning.

Use the steam cleaner to disinfect our bed

Steam is a very effective method of killing insects that live in and under beds at all stages of their development. Our mattress is an ideal place for those bugs.

When you go to steam, try to use a wide ejection head to ensure that you kill the insects in a single pass. Using a small or concentrated head will make them scatter and will not kill them right away.Dirt-mattress

Using hot steam will only kill insects that are exposed to that heat, so any insects that do not come into contact will survive. Therefore the procedure must be repeated a couple of times to ensure that all insects have been removed. Steamers direct lethal temperatures directly to where insects are hiding. A suitable nozzle can reach about 5 centimeters into the cracks and grooves to eliminate insects; Applying it to fabrics can reach up to 2 centimeters. It is important to use a low pressure nozzle, rather than using a thinner one that generates more force, to prevent insects being blown away, allowing them to survive.

To kill the insects effectively, the surface temperature of the mattress should be between 70 and 80 degrees after applying the steam. You can finish this process by applying a mild insecticide to ensure 100% cleaning.

Eradicating Dust Mites with Steam

The steam will reduce the dust mite population on your mattresses and carpets. Regular steam cleaning followed by good vacuuming to collect allergenic debris will make a significant difference in the quality of the air in your home and consequently improve the health of your family. With regular use of a steamer, you can remove dust mites from mattresses, pillows, and upholstery, as well as reduce allergic reactions such as asthma.

The proliferation of mites can be reduced considerably by cleaning your carpets with a steam cleaner. A study in Glasgow, Scotland, found a decrease of almost 90% in the concentration of mites per gram of dust in carpets after they had been steam cleaned.

Homemade tricks for cleaning carpets

Kill germs from carpets with various cleaning tricks using natural ingredients. It will improve your health and that of your home.

Do you have rugs at home?  Do you spend time cleaning the carpets to keep them in good condition?

Who more and who less always enjoys in their home that beautiful carpet in the living room, the same one that children or pets get dirty every day.

You may have some in your room, or it is possible that you are quite a fan of them and have practically the house "lined".

However, there is always a problem with carpets.

They give the home a more intimate and elegant atmosphere, but it takes a lot to clean them and keep them in good condition.

Not only do they catch odors, but they are a more than ideal setting for the dreaded mites to occupy and allergies appear.

What can we do? Don't worry, today we give you simple remedies.

Tricks for cleaning carpets

We pass over them almost every moment, they fill with dust and dirt  and  can pollute the air in the home due to the large number of germs that they can accumulate.

And not only that. A carpet that has not been cared for, becomes caked and frayed, which can cause the occasional home accident.

We have to be careful, so it is worth taking into account these simple tips that will be useful to you when cleaning carpets.

1. Cleaning long-pile carpets

They are very pretty, funny and both children and our pets love them.

That is why we must take special care to wash them more frequently and take care that these synthetic threads do not come off.

Our dogs, or younger children, could eat them and have a serious problem.

This is what we should do to take care of long-pile rugs:

What I need?
  • 50 ml white vinegar
  • 250 ml of water

How should I do it?
This product is ideal for cleaning, removing germs and disinfecting. Don't be afraid that the vinegar smell will linger after cleaning, because it won't. The moment it dries, the scent will volatilize.
  • It is not about completely “soaking” the carpet, but about spraying over it. To do this, the first thing we will do is hang it  somewhere outdoors , ideal if you have a balcony or terrace. If not, find a room where you can open the windows and hang the rug so it can give it air.
  • Hit it with a poker to remove any dust, hair, small items of trash or dirt that it may have. Next, mix the white vinegar and water in a spray bottle  and spray the carpet with it. Then you just have to let it dry. Allow it to breathe for about 3 hours.

2. How to clean a bad smelling carpet

Surely you have at home that older carpet, the one that always gives off an odor that makes the room smell of old age or a neglected home.

Is very annoying. However, there is a remedy that never fails.

What I need?
  • 250 g of salt. The amount is approximate, since ideally you can sprinkle the entire surface of the carpet with common table salt.

How should I do it?
It's interesting to know that salt is great not only for removing “stubborn” odors, but also for removing moisture stains . To do this, the first thing we will do is spread the carpet and, as we have indicated before, sprinkle it with salt.
  • You will have to roll it up little by little, so that it is very close together and with hardly any spaces. Let it work for a whole day. Afterwards, you will only have to use the vacuum cleaner to remove all the salt, dirt and  bad smell .

3. How to quickly clean your home rugs

This trick is the simplest of all and one of the most used.

It will be useful to clean the carpets in a few minutes, removing stains, deodorizing and, in turn, eliminating any germs .

What I need?
  • 100 ml of ammonia
  • A liter of warm water
  • A sprayer
  • A brush

How should I do it?
First of all, we must take a series of precautions with this product, since exposure to it can be toxic to the body. Therefore, it is essential that we open the windows so that the room is well ventilated and that we wear a mask and gloves.
  • Then what we will do is heat the water.  It is enough that it is hot, but without burning. Add the ammonia, being careful not to splash yourself, and transfer the mixture to a spray bottle.
  • The next step is very simple:  spray this content all over the carpet, then use a brush and carefully scrub the entire surface. Keep leaving the windows open so the fresh air can finish drying the carpet.

Follow these simple tips to clean your carpets.

How to clean dirt and disinfect carpets in your home

The rugs enrich the decoration of the living room, give life to the home and insulate from the cold. There are them from different countries of the world, of different styles, colors, decorative motifs, etc. Some are even real works of art and real handicrafts, but all of them, with the passage of time and with inadequate cleaning , can become a source of infection . The various fabrics that make up the carpets retain millions of dust mites, bacteria, dirt, soot, human and animal hair or dead skin.

For optimal maintenance of carpets, whether they are wool, silk, cotton, goat hair or synthetic fabrics, it is advisable to clean them twice a year . To accomplish this task, here are some of the best vacuum cleaners. In this way, you will prevent your carpet from becoming a source of dirt and the fabrics from deteriorating.

Cleaning carpets at home effectively, naturally and economically is possible with a few basic ingredients and some specific tips:

Frequent cleaning

For normal and frequent cleaning, we first have to start by turning the carpet. Then you have to vacuum the back. Dirt, dust and crumbs will be removed. In any case, here is how to clean carpets with vacuum cleaners.

We turn again, and sprinkle a small amount of baking soda . Then we spread it over the entire surface with the help of a soft bristle brush. If we are afraid of delicate fabric, we can use a cloth that is completely dry.

You have to let the bicarbonate act as long as possible, the ideal would be about 24. Then it is removed with the vacuum cleaner. If this action is done often, the carpets will always be clean and deodorized. This is because bicarbonate naturally eliminates odors, without masking them .

Deep cleaning

For a more thorough cleaning, a mixture consisting of two glasses of white vinegar and three tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate is made in a liter of water and the product is distributed with a sprayer. The carpet is gently brushed and allowed to dry well, away from sunlight so as not to damage the colors.

With equal parts white vinegar and coarse salt, a paste with a creamy consistency is created, which will help us to clean the different stains that the carpet may have. This mixture is an excellent stain remover, but should be used with care on especially delicate fabrics. For fresh, wet, or oily stains, a mixture of baking soda and cornstarch should be applied.

Hand cleaning

When dimensions allow, carpets can be cleaned by hand or in the washing machine with a mild and ecological detergent, such as a mixture of Marseille soap in a bottle of water , a cup of baking soda and a few drops of Essential oil of the perfume you prefer is optional. All ingredients are mixed well and used as a normal laundry detergent.

Cotton or sponge rugs, especially those used in the bathroom, can be treated with Marseille soap. First of all, the soap must be dissolved with water and poured with a spray.

It is also recommended that the carpets be allowed to air dry , although away from sunlight that could create stains, if for example, the carpet is a light color.

Steam cleaning

To approach the cleaning of home carpets in a homemade and natural way, we have to mention steam. It is a sanitizing technique that considerably reduces the population of mites that proliferate, especially in terms of temperature (approximately 20ºC) and humidity index (60º onwards). These are vital conditions, very optimal for these arachnids.

Steam cleaners only use high-temperature water, to create a very powerful natural steam with a high disinfection capacity . A study carried out in Glasgow found a decrease of more than 90% in the concentration of mites per gram of dust in the carpets, after being cleaned with steam.

Cleaning by professionals

Nor can the cleaning carried out by professionals be overlooked, either at the client's own home or with home collection. These companies perform professional work at the highest level .

Using very precise techniques for each type of tissue, they use the injection-extraction system, combining the injection force of specific products for disinfection and cleaning of the tissues and the subsequent extraction of the liquid by sucking up the dirt. The service is unbeatable, while they clean, they also restore.

How to clean carpets at home step by step with home remedies

Bacteria, pollen debris, dust and dead skin coexist on a carpet. Find out how to properly clean carpets to avoid infection or disease.

Keeping carpets clean and germ-free can seem like a challenge. Especially if you have children or animals at home. Here are several options for dry cleaning carpets in the comfort of your home. This comes in handy if your rug is large.

In another article we already saw  how to clean car upholstery . Now we will talk about the different types of rugs and how to clean them.

Types of rugs

There are many types of rugs, and we must take this into account before cleaning. Depending on the material with which it is made, we will have to use some methods and products or others.

Handicraft professionals often use natural raw materials such as wool, silk, linen, cotton, esparto, jute or sisal. As they are made by hand, they are also dyed with natural pigments, a very important fact to take into account for their cleaning and conservation.

Of wool, silk and combined : they are made by hand and originate from eastern countries such as Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan or Turkey .

Wool and cotton rugs : they come from North African countries, such as Morocco, Tunisia or Algeria and are also made in an artisan way. Like the previous ones, its value will depend on the number of knots they contain on the reverse .

From vegetable fibers :
here we can distinguish between various kinds of materials: Jute, coconut fiber, sisal, mats and Sea Grass. The problem with these rugs is that, being made of vegetable fibers, they can deteriorate with humidity, except for Sea Grass as they are waterproof.

Animal skin rugs : they are made with the skin of cows, sheep or other animals. They are very resistant to friction but very delicate against humidity and the intrusion of some insects.

Combination rugs : they often combine natural and synthetic materials, which can make the cleaning process even more difficult.

Synthetics : they are much cheaper because they are made with low-cost machines and materials. However, they are very resistant and we can find them woven with different components : acrylic, nylon, polypropylene or polyester rugs. With this last material the long pile carpet is usually made.

How to clean carpets

  • Depending on the material with which our carpet is made, we will have to do the cleaning in one way or another.
  • The best method that exists to keep any type of carpet in perfect condition is to use a high-powered vacuum cleaner and do it regularly. This is essential for long pile carpet.
  • To clean jute or latex rugs you should know that they are not washable and can deteriorate with the use of water. Do not wet or submerge them, except to remove difficult and specific stains. Lastly, prevent water from penetrating the base.
  • In vegetable fiber rugs , in addition to vacuuming at least once a week, you can wipe with a damp cloth with water and mild soap. Make sure it is well drained and then rinse with just water using the same procedure.
  • Pure wool and cotton rugs can be washed with mild soap, cold water and salt to avoid color mixing. However, if it is large, we recommend that you take it to a dry cleaner to ensure that it is left in perfect condition.
  • Also important is the fact that wool rugs must be collected in summer so that insects such as moths cannot spoil them.

Carpet Cleaning Techniques

  • For cleaning heavily soiled carpets, especially long-pile carpets, vacuum cleaners and brush brushes are often the best options. However, bicarbonate is ideal for cleaning all types of carpets without damaging the fabrics, as well as being very effective. You just have to mix it with a little salt, spread the powder over the surface to be treated, leave it to act for an hour and remove the remains with a vacuum cleaner. The bicarbonate frees the fabric of dust and bacteria and improves its smell.
  • The steam cleaner is a great alternative for cleaning all types of carpets. It removes dust and impurities without damaging fabrics, and if you spread a little baking soda with salt on the carpet, you will optimize steam cleaning. Run the steamer twice over the same area and let it dry completely.
  • Hot water with vinegar is also very effective in removing stains from your carpets. Spray the fabric with this preparation and scrub the moistened surface with a bristle brush . You will see how even the most difficult stains will be removed without problems.
  • For oil or grease stains, cornstarch or corn starch is very effective. Sprinkle a little on the stain and let it sit for about 30 minutes . Then, vacuum and brush the treated area with a dry brush.
  • If you need to remove wine stains or other strong liquids, mix one tablespoon of dishwasher with a cup of hydrogen peroxide and spread the mixture over the stain. Leave on for half an hour and use a damp bristle brush to rub gently. Then dry the mixture with a cloth.

We hope we have helped you with the cleaning of your carpet, whether of animal origin, synthetic or long pile carpet. There will be no stain that resists these tricks.

Why You Should Vacuum Your Carpet

For many people, the concepts carpet and vacuum cleaner are polar opposites that should not be touched. There are many legends, hoaxes and half-documented stories about why it should not be used. But the vacuum cleaner is a tool that can extend the life of our carpet by keeping it clean in the process, if we use it well.

Of course, the questions arise of how often a carpet must be vacuumed and how it should be done to avoid damaging its fabrics. If you want to keep your carpet for many years, you are in the right place. We tell you when and how to vacuum to leave it like the first day for longer.

How often do I have to vacuum the carpet?

The frequency with which a carpet is cleaned varies depending on the type of fabric and the occupation of the home . Although it is usually recommended to clean a carpet every two weeks, it will be advisable to do it before if small children live in the house who play on it or if we have a pet.

We will also have to increase the frequency if we have a rug under the table where we eat, if it is in a damp place, or if it is woven with natural fibers. Factors all of them that help to a certain extent to fix the dirt.

Since a general cleaning is usually done throughout the weekend, we can include the task of a couple of minutes that will take us to vacuum the carpet taking into account a couple of tips to avoid damaging it.

Why vacuum versus shaking?

The vacuum cleaner is not an infallible method of cleaning, but a preventive treatment to prevent dust, suspended particles and organic debris from seeping into the fabrics, sticking to them, and causing damage or a bad odor (such as that generated the mold or fungi to growing up ).

Passing the vacuum cleaner we are removing the first layers of dirt on the carpet, but not those that are already inside, and that require shaking it or going through a specialized cleaning service.

Therefore, the less a carpet is vacuumed, the more times it will have to be shaken to remove the dirt embedded inside, with the deterioration that it supposes . In addition, more trips will have to be made to the dye for cleaning , adding a cost that we could have easily saved.

How to use the vacuum cleaner without damaging the carpet?

However, the vacuum cleaner is not without danger for the fibers of our carpet, and it will be necessary to pass it carefully if we do not want to damage it. We give you some tips to use it:

Leave the carpet for the end of the cleaning

To begin with, we should not vacuum before cleaning the dust on the furniture . Although it seems that it is not related, when cleaning the furniture we are dispersing a thin layer of dirt on the floor (and therefore on the carpet) that we would then have to remove again if we do not want to leave it dirty until we vacuum again the next time.

Similarly, it is recommended to vacuum the house before going over the carpet , saving it for last. Especially if the vacuum is not water, the filter often acts as a blower for hot and dirty air, something for which normal filter vacuums have been criticized.

Choose a low-suction vacuum

As we have said, the idea after vacuuming is not to remove all the interior dirt, but to remove the first layers (the most recent). If we use all the power of the machine we could damage the fabrics, so the ideal thing would be to buy a vacuum cleaner with a power regulator , reducing it when passing especially for not very rigid carpets that can fray.

Carpet care tips

As these types of vacuum cleaners are quite expensive, the alternative is to acquire an independent head, seeking to fulfill two points that help soften the force of the air on the fabric :

  • That the mouth of the vacuum cleaner has a lot of surface.
  • That this is adjustable in height, being able to move it away from the carpet.
  • In this way we will avoid sucking with great force.

Technique is important when vacuuming

Just like when and what to vacuum with, you have to pay attention to how. The ideal is not to pass twice in a row and in the same direction through the same point , so as not to force the fabrics or bend or stretch them excessively.

Vacuuming in a vee, diagonal, or changing the direction of pass helps the fibers to withstand the stresses and will clean the carpet without reducing its useful life.

It is important to vacuum with the carpet horizontally on the floor , and not with it hanging (for example from a clothesline). In this way we will avoid forcing the fabrics more than necessary, in addition to being able to extract as much dirt as possible, since the dirt will move vertically or diagonally inside the fabric, sometimes to get trapped.

In addition to all the previous points, it is always recommended to vacuum dry if we do not want the fabrics to be caked or even to trap dust.

And, of course, if we don't have time or desire, we will always have to go to the dye ...

Note: Hamid rugs is not responsible for any defects that may be caused by the application of these cleaning and care tips, as the products and tools mentioned are advisable, but depending on the way they are applied they could damage the rugs. This is because the materials of each rug are unique and their dyes and composition will react in different ways. We always recommend professional carpet restoration and cleaning.

How to vacuum a carpet

Vacuuming may not be fun, but it is an important chore to keep clean and has many health benefits. Vacuuming dust, dirt, and other particles prevents people with allergies or asthma from suffering from discomfort. Vacuuming also increases the life of carpets and rugs, which can help you save time and money in the long run when you don't have to replace them.

Method 1 Vacuuming a woven rug

1
Find the direction of the grain of the carpet. Woven rugs can have a lot, little or no fiber. This is the density of the vertical fibers that protrude from the carpet. The direction in which the fibers naturally lie is called the fiber direction. [1] To determine it, run your hand along the rug. If you do it against the grain, you will feel the resistance.
You should always vacuum or brush woven rugs in the direction of the grain. Otherwise, softer yarns may break. [2]

2
Vacuum in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the grain. If you vacuum in the direction of the grain, the fibers will cover and protect the dirt you want to remove. Vacuuming against the direction of the grain will cause unnecessary wear on the carpet and can cause fiber loss and damage. [3]

3
Don't vacuum the fringes. When vacuuming the edges, use your hand or foot to pin the fringe down. Vacuuming them could damage the vacuum and the carpet. [4] Suction roller vacuums are better for this task, as the fringes will not get stuck inside the vacuum.

Method 2 Vacuuming tufted rugs

1
Check the underside for possible flaking or peeling. Tufted rugs are held together by a layer of latex glue that secures the fringes and prevents them from falling off. If the carpet is very old, this layer of glue could show signs of cracking and crumbling, which means that the fringes will no longer be secured. If you see patches on the underside of the carpet where there is no glue, be very careful when cleaning that part. Exerting a lot of pressure will cause the fibers to come off and create new patches. [5]

2
Find the direction of the grain. All tufted rugs have a fiber; it is the density of the protruding vertical fibers. They also have a grain direction, which is the direction the fibers naturally lie. [6] To determine the direction of the grain, run your hand over the carpet. It will appear darker and you will feel resistance when you brush against the grain.
If the carpet is rectangular, the grain direction will go the length.
Regular traffic on the carpet can change the direction of the grain in certain places. Rotate rugs on a regular basis so the grain stays even throughout the rug.

3
Vacuum periodically in the direction of the grain. If you vacuum in the direction of the grain, the fibers will cover and protect the dirt you want to remove. Vacuuming against the direction of the grain will cause unnecessary wear to the carpet and could accidentally remove the fringes. [7]
For best results, use a bagless vacuum and stir bar, or a similar vacuum that only uses suction.

Method 3 Vacuuming a flat-weave rug

1
Vacuum frequently. Flat-weave rugs are fiber-free and made of durable materials. Due to their fine, yet tough nature, they will appear dirtier more often than other rugs, as there will be less room for dirt and dust to hide. While excessive vacuuming can often cause wear and tear on the carpet, durable materials can hold up quite a bit before this occurs.

2
Be careful with the fringes. If vacuumed upwards, the fringes can get caught in the stir bar and damage both the vacuum and the carpet. [8] For this reason, temporarily turn off the agitator bar when vacuuming the edges or use a bagless vacuum that uses only suction. If you have access to a vacuum with stir bars, hold the fringes down with your hand while vacuuming.

3
Vacuum both sides. Flat-weave rugs are reversible, and both sides are susceptible to soiling. Vacuuming both sides will remove dirt that can wear down the carpet early. [9] Turn the carpet over occasionally to distribute the wear evenly on both sides. This will increase its life and reduce wear.

Method 4 Vacuuming a thick carpet

1
Flip the rug over and vacuum the underside. By doing this first, you will be able to loosen dirt and dust deep in the carpet. [10] For this step, you will need a vacuum with a stir bar. Stand on the rug and use your feet to prevent the edges from lifting up when you vacuum.
Alternatively, you and a friend can turn the thick rug over and shake it vigorously to loosen dirt and dust. However, thick rugs are very heavy, so it will be difficult to do it without help.

2
Vacuum the floor under the carpet. Roll up the rug and set it aside for a moment. On the floor, there will be dirt and dust that you have previously dislodged from the carpet. Vacuum this part before putting the carpet in place, but this time, face up. [eleven]

3
Vacuum the top with a light suction. Unlike the bottom, stir bar vacuums are not recommended for use on the top, as long fibers will wrap around them and damage the vacuum. Using a vacuum cleaner with mild suction can also cause damage by pulling the fringes from the carpet. Instead, use a small vacuum with low suction or use the crevice tool to gently clean the top.

Tips
Dust your carpets frequently. The best way to remove dust from a carpet is to prevent it from accumulating in the first place. [12]
Regardless of the type of carpet you have, always use a non-slip base! In addition to increasing the life of the carpet, it prevents it from sliding or scratching the surface below. [13]
Vacuuming a carpet is very effective in controlling the hair of cats and dogs in the house.

Warnings
Don't vacuum fur, sheepskin, or fur rugs. These rugs require special attention to care for the coat. [14]

How to vacuum the carpet or carpet and leave it 100% clean

Carpets are present in most homes and it has surely happened to you that after vacuuming it, you feel that it was not as clean as you expected.

Today I will give you some very useful tips and techniques to vacuum your carpet and make it impeccable.

How to vacuum the carpet step by step

If you have pets in addition to carpets , you will be interested in this guide on vacuum cleaners that work very well with the hair of your animals.

# 1 Clear the carpet
The first thing you should do is clear the carpet of all objects that could bother you cleaning, such as tables and chairs.

# 2 Place the appropriate mouthpiece
If your vacuum includes a special carpet brush, you should place it before you start.

If you have a cordless vacuum cleaner, much better, since it will allow you to have greater freedom of movement.

# 3 Aim for medium power
Turn on the vacuum and put it on medium power .

A very high power would absorb the pile of the carpet, and a low one does not have the necessary force to remove the dirt from it.

# 4 Follow the direction of the strands
Vacuum in the direction of the strands of the carpet, in slow movements , and then go perpendicular .

In this way, you will absorb as much dust and dirt as possible.

# 5 Use the nozzle for the corners
If the carpet or carpet reaches the wall, use the nozzle to vacuum in the corners

This is one of the places where dirt accumulates the most because we do not usually clean there.

How often should I vacuum?

Carpet should be cleaned every day if it is in a high traffic area of the home.

But if you are in a space that is not used much then you can do a weekly cleaning .

How to remove the bad smell from the carpet?

If the carpet is very dirty and has a bad smell, you can dry clean it with baking soda .

Just add it all over the carpet, leave it on overnight, and vacuum the carpet as usual.

The bad smell will disappear and it will look much cleaner.

How to remove stains from the carpet?

Now, if you want to remove a specific stain, make a mixture of water, white vinegar and liquid soap.

Apply it to the carpet with a spray bottle, and rub it with a cloth or soft bristle brush, then vacuum it.

I do not recommend using a very strong brush as it can loosen the fibers of the carpet.
